This innovative methodology enables the growth of Gallium Nitride (GaN) in defect-free pyramidal structures directly onto Silicon Carbide or other substrate wafers, ensuring extremely high quantum efficiency and superior quality surfaces. Polar Light Technologies plans to leverage this green microLED technology further by bonding these high-efficiency microLED frontplanes with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) backplanes.
