OpenAI Expands Semiconductor Procurement, Accelerates AI Infrastructure

OpenAI is accelerating its collaboration with semiconductor-related companies, preparing to become a key player in the AI and semiconductor markets beyond 2026. In partnership with Oracle and SoftBank Group, OpenAI has launched the “Stargate Project,” a plan to build AI data centers across the United States. The total investment is expected to reach up to 500 billion US dollars, aiming to significantly expand AI computing infrastructure.
The project is moving ahead of schedule, reflecting the increasing urgency for AI infrastructure to support global data demands. Collaboration with AI cloud computing company CoreWeave is also being pursued to enhance performance and energy efficiency.
OpenAI is reportedly also exploring next-generation AI data center development in South Korea, which could further expand its global AI infrastructure network. Analysts note that OpenAI’s growing semiconductor demand is likely to influence the broader semiconductor market.
