Onsemi, a leading leader in power and sensing technologies, has officially announced the launch of its new gallium nitride power portfolio, branded as GaNEXUS. According to the company, this new family of products is designed to dramatically improve energy conversion and management, enabling up to double the power density compared to traditional silicon based solutions in specific applications.
The initial offering includes GaNEXUS Field Effect Transistors that support a wide voltage range from 40 volts up to 650 volts. Additionally, onsemi introduced the 650 volt GaNEXUS Smart, which integrates essential protection features directly into the component. The primary strength of the GaNEXUS portfolio lies in its synergy with onsemi's existing Treo platform. The Treo platform is a highly integrated architecture that unifies sensing, control, protection, and power management functions.
By combining the high speed, low loss switching characteristics of gallium nitride with the Treo platform, engineers can realize highly reliable, system level power solutions. This integrated approach simplifies design complexity, accelerates development and qualification cycles, reduces thermal engineering and cooling requirements, and optimizes overall performance across the entire power delivery chain.
